St. Louis DUI Attorney Tory Bernsen Received Advanced Level Training on HGN Test Defense

Attorney Tory Bernsen, a criminal defense attorney in St. Louis, recently had advanced level training from American Association of Premier DUI Attorneys (AAPDA) to defend clients against the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN) Test police may administer incorrectly in a suspected drunk driving arrest. Ms. Bernsen and other attorneys met with AAPDA Field Sobriety Testing and Breath Testing Expert Member of the Association Travis Jones to learn the right steps to take to defend these types of cases.

The HGN Test training provided recommendations for cases where the alleged drunk driver has had the HGN test done while he or she was sitting in a police car with an officer. There are many reasons this test can be inaccurate in this specific situation and build a criminal defense case for the individual facing charges.

According to a press release published by AAPDA, the training involves “strategies that win the most DUI cases at trial and are also used to get DUI cases successfully resolved for the defense prior to trial.”

Tory Bernsen is a partner at Muhlenkamp & Bernsen, Attorneys at Law, LLC. Founded in 2015, the firm specializes in criminal defense cases including DUI defense and appellate advocacy. Ms. Bernsen joined AAPDA in August 2018.
